Peer support occurs when Members and their families meet with others who are in or have faced similar situations

The benefit is that of shared mutual experience, understanding and support. This may occur naturally at meetings, forums or gatherings, or more formally through our Peer Support Program.

Peer support volunteers contribute to the activities of the MS Society including the Newly Diagnosed Seminar and the monthly Meet and Greet Forums. These talks are always well received as they share their personal experience which is often reassuring for others in similar circumstances.

Our peer support volunteers have MS or care for someone with MS and must meet the criteria of the program and undertake training. They are then able to provide some phone support for people wanting to hear about the lived experience of someone in similar circumstances.

If you would like to know more about the Peer or Carer Peer Support Programs, or if you are interested in undertaking a volunteering role please ring the Peer Support Coordinator on 9365 4808 or contact us.
