The Perth Integrated Health Cycle Group couldn’t wait until next year’s Hatch Ocean Ride for MS, with 17 members jetting off to Melbourne in March for the 3 Peak Challenge. Each Member has committed to raise $1,000 for the MS Society of WA, and we wish them all the best with their fundraising AND the 3 peaks!

Kim Graham from Kondinin decided that having MS wasn’t going to hold him back. He wanted to see how far his gopher, once fully charged, would go - would he make it the next town? What would happen if his battery ran out half way up a hill? No one knew the answer, but plenty of people were prepared to place a bet!
So Kim seized the opportunity and started taking friendly wagers, from $5 all the way up to $200, with all proceeds donated to the MS Society.
When the big day arrived, the whole community turned out at 7.30am to cheer Kim on. A convoy of police cars, cyclists and even eager runners kept him company on his journey. Some people made signs, some played inspirational music and others assisted with sunscreen and flyswats!
Kim managed to travel to Kulin and back, finishing up almost 12 hours later with a few celebratory laps of the local pub, before the gopher battery eventually gave out. All up, he travelled 56.9km and raised $6000 for the MS Society of Western Australia. What can we say? You’re a legend, mate!

It is always good to start to the day with a hearty breakfast of bacon, eggs, fruit and yoghurt – especially when it’s for charity.
More than 50 people attended a breakfast fundraiser at the Corrective Services Academy in Bentley last week (31 March) to raise awareness and help the fight towards a cure for Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
The breakfast also included an auction, raffle and door prizes with great gifts such as football and soccer memorabilia, a limousine ride, gourmet cakes and fast food vouchers.
Organised by Senior Training Officer Sharon Mansell and Custodial Training Officer Jodie Hicks the event, raised more than $1,600 for the MS Society of WA.

For several years, the MS Society has been a beneficiary of the BankWest Community Fair. With an animal farm, sideshow alley and face painting to entertain the kids and a wide range of market and craft stalls for adults, the annual Fair really has something for everyone. It is a perfect display of community participation, with groups of all cultural backgrounds coming together to celebrate their art and raise money for charitable organisations and projects.
As the time drew closer for sending out the invitations to our wedding, we were struggling to come up with an alternative to not receiving wedding gifts. There were 12 people coming from England, including six of Colin's family, and we didn't particularly want people spending more money, we just wanted to spend our special day with our family and friends.
We decided to let people know that they could donate to the MS Society if they wanted to give us something. We had a donation box at the reception, along with donation slips and envelopes. Some people asked us to send out donation slips so they could include it in the card, others just donated on the night. We raised $1580 from our special day - thanks to our amazing family and friends.
